1. About this statement

This Cookie Statement explains how CardFeeCheck uses cookies and similar technologies on its website.

CardFeeCheck is a free, independent UK card processing fee calculator for businesses. The calculator helps you estimate the cost of accepting card payments. Calculations take place in your browser.

This statement should be read alongside our [Privacy Statement link], which explains how we handle personal data and your rights.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files that a website may place on your device. They can be used to remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, whether you are signed in, or how you use a site.

Websites can also use “similar technologies”, such as:

• Local storage and session storage, which can store information in your browser;
• Tracking pixels or tags, which can send information about your device or activity to another service; and
• Device or browser identifiers, which may be used to recognise a device or browser.

In this statement, we use “cookies” as a simple shorthand to refer to cookies and these similar technologies, unless we say otherwise.

3. The types of cookies

Strictly necessary cookies

4. Cookies currently used by CardFeeCheck

No cookies are set by CardFeeCheck anywhere on the site. This includes no use of document.cookie. Because we do not use cookies, we do not currently display a cookie banner.

We also do not use similar storage technologies for the calculator:

• The calculator runs entirely in your browser.
• It does not use localStorage or sessionStorage.
• The figures you enter stay in the page session only (they are not stored for later use).

Analytics note (PostHog): our codebase includes a PostHog analytics script, but it only loads if a PUBLIC_POSTHOG_KEY is configured. That key is not currently set, so analytics is currently not active and no PostHog requests are made. If analytics is enabled in future, it is likely to use cookies and/or local storage. If that happens, we will update this Cookie Statement and add appropriate consent wording and a cookie banner/settings tool where required.

Even when we do not set cookies, browsers, networks and hosting providers still process basic technical information to deliver the website (for example, requests made to load pages and assets). See our [Privacy Statement link] for more about personal data and how we handle it.

5. No advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking

CardFeeCheck currently uses:

• No advertising cookies;
• No marketing cookies;
• No profiling cookies;
• No social media tracking pixels;
• No cross-site tracking cookies;
• No tracking pixels or tags;
• No third-party embeds, iframes or embedded widgets; and
• No cookies used to sell or share browsing activity for advertising purposes.

CardFeeCheck does not recommend a payment provider and does not use tracking technology to personalise provider recommendations.

We also use system fonts only (no external font services such as Google Fonts).

6. If optional tools are added in the future

If CardFeeCheck introduces analytics, marketing, advertising or other non-essential tools in the future:

1. We will update this statement before or when the tools are introduced;
2. We will identify the relevant cookies or technologies, their purposes, providers and durations;
3. We will obtain prior consent where required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR);
4. We will not set non-essential cookies before the required consent is given;
5. Consent will be requested through a clear cookie banner or settings tool; and
6. Users will be able to withdraw or change their consent as easily as they gave it.

If a consent-management tool is introduced, you will normally be able to change your choices by selecting a “Cookie settings” link on the website. You may also delete cookies or block them through your browser settings.

Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

7. Third-party content and external services

CardFeeCheck does not use third-party content embeds, such as embedded videos, maps, social media posts, iframes, or external widgets.

However, the site does make a small number of third-party / external requests that are needed to deliver the service:

• Homepage logo image (cdn.marblism.com): our homepage logo image is loaded from cdn.marblism.com, a third-party content delivery network (CDN). This means the CDN will receive your IP address and standard request headers when your browser requests the image. This request is strictly necessary to display the site branding. No cookies are involved in this request.
• Hosting (Vercel): the site is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosting providers, Vercel processes and logs incoming requests as part of providing the infrastructure (for example, IP addresses in server/access logs). Vercel acts as a processor for this activity. See our [Privacy Statement link] for more information.

If we add third-party embedded content or other optional services in the future, we will update this statement and (where required) ask for consent before loading anything that uses non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

8. Controlling and deleting cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. You can usually:

• Block all cookies;
• Block third-party cookies;
• Delete existing cookies;
• Allow cookies only for particular websites; or
• Receive a warning before cookies are stored.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how a website works.

Optional cookies and similar technologies will only be used with valid consent where consent is required. Consent must be informed, specific, freely given and capable of being withdrawn.
